The Landes, a department of Nouvelle-Aquitaine, is the second largest in France. It is home to the largest maritime pine forest and offers a coastline of more than 100 km of great sandy shores. All along it, numerous seaside resorts benefit from its appeal: Tarnos, Ondres, Labenne, Capbreton, Hossegor, Seignosse, Soustons, Vieux-Boucau, Messanges, Moliets-et-Maâ, Vielle-Saint-Girons, Lit-et-Mixe, Contis, Mimizan, Biscarrosse.
The Landes also boasts a whole series of large freshwater lakes and ponds bordered by sandy beaches and pines: Parentis-Biscarrosse, Aureilhan-Mimizan and Léon are perfect spots for contemplation.
In short, it is a dream holiday destination for nature lovers, water sports enthusiasts and travellers in search of relaxation.
Beaches
Countless beaches stretch as far as the eye can see along the Atlantic Ocean, offering an idyllic setting to cool off, disconnect and recharge.
Lespecier beach, south of Mimizan and 5 km from the Village, is considered one of the wildest in the region. It charms with fabulous viewpoints and a soothing environment, attracting many water sports enthusiasts such as surfers and sand yachters. Perfectly suited to families, it has a picnic area, a playground and a beach restaurant (with disabled access).
Take the opportunity to try sea wading, an invigorating, convivial discipline that consists of walking in the sea along the coast in a wetsuit:

Set off on an adventure by Lake Aureilhan and let yourself be carried along the Mimizan current, from its source to its mouth on the sea. All along, discover a variety of water activities such as:

For walkers in search of nature, nearly 40 km of trails are accessible around Mimizan. Along the way, you can admire the flora and fauna of the Landes as well as its historical heritage.
Walk ideas:
Take the trail opposite the Village, starting from Bias. This 5 km walk takes around 2 hours and is very accessible for the whole family. You can admire the Landes forest and the Bourg Vieux pond, where you are sure to spot a few fishermen.
The tour of Lake Aureilhan is a must if you are in the area. The walk is longer (around 4 hours) but just as beautiful, with its emblematic Flower Promenade.
Bike rides
More than 60 km of cycle paths and marked secondary roads are at your disposal so you can enjoy your entire stay by bike.
Don't miss the Vélodyssée, which runs through our region. It is one of the most beautiful cycle routes in the world, following the Atlantic coast for 1250 km from Roscoff to Hendaye via the Landes.

Staying at Les Pins d'Or village is the perfect opportunity to discover Mimizan, a charming seaside resort ideally located between the ocean and the Landes de Gascogne forest. It offers many walks and activities along the beaches and around Lake Aureilhan. Take a stroll through the town centre — you will find everything you need.
Mimizan market
Traditional mixed market with 65 stalls in winter and 100 in summer.

Mimizan Plage market
Covered market (15/06 to 15/09 every day 8am-1pm — rest of the year Tuesday to Sunday 8am to 1pm).

They will love the treasure hunt organised by All Water. Open April to October, Avenue du Lac in Mimizan. And that's not all — here is another original activity: the maize maze in Gastes. Avenue du Lanot, open all summer from 8 July to 26 August.
Escape and Explore

Mimizan’s geographical location makes it an ideal starting point for exploring other charming places not far away.
Less than an hour away is Dax, a popular spa town, also famous for its arenas during the ferias!
The Dune du Pilat, at the entrance to Arcachon bay, continues to delight visitors, offering from its summit an exceptional panorama of sand dunes and ocean.
Finally, the ponds of Léon, Gastes and Biscarrosse are much loved for their calm, natural setting.
To complete your journey, just over an hour away is Bordeaux, famous for its vineyards and its way of life combining history, culture and conviviality.
Oyster lovers should head to Arcachon for a tasting accompanied by a glass of white wine.
Finally, just below the Landes, don’t miss the Basque Country, straddling France and Spain. It offers a diversity of landscapes with the Atlantic Ocean on one side and the Pyrenees on the other. Rich in traditions and heritage, you will quickly feel transported!
